Job Description:
I am interested in having a custom app developed for an AFL Dreamteam-like competition with specific rules and features. The primary purpose of the app is to facilitate a draft night for 16 participants and manage the competition throughout the season based on the following set of rules:
The Draft: The app should facilitate a draft night where 16 participants select 18 players each. The draft order should be determined by a random draw, and the order should change every two rounds. There should also be provisions for retaining one player from the previous year's last three draft picks (draft pick number 8).
The Program: The app should create a schedule for 18 rounds, with each participant playing against others once in the first 15 rounds. The last three rounds should follow a specific format based on the participants' standings after the first 15 rounds.
The Team: Participants should be able to select a team of 8 players each week, designating specific positions (3 forwards, 3 on-ballers, 1 ruckman, 1 tackler), and naming 4 emergencies.
The Match: The app should calculate points based on the official AFL match statistics for each participant's team, determining the winner of each game. Points should be allocated to the position the player is nominated in at the rate of 1 point per disposal for 'on-ballers' (a total of handballs and kicks), 4 points for a tackle (tackler), goals and points for forwards (for example, 3 goals and 1 point is 19 points), and the ruckman scores points at the rate of 2 points per mark and one point per hit-out.
Premiership Table: A weekly table should be generated, displaying wins, losses, premiership points, score for & against, and percentage.
Mid-Season draft: The app should allow for a mid-season draft at the end of round 9, with rules for delisting players and drafting new ones.
The Finals: The app should facilitate a finals series for the top 8 participants, following the same draw rules as the AFL.
Fees and Prizes: The app should manage entry fees, calculate prizes, and enforce penalties according to the competition rules.
Additionally, I would like the app to integrate a payment system using PayPal for managing entry fees and distributing prizes. Participants should be able to pay their entry fees via PayPal, and the app should automatically distribute the prizes to the winners at the end of the competition through the same platform.
One more feature I would like to include is the ability for the app to provide up-to-date scores for the weekend matches by data scraping the AFL website for statistics. This will help participants to track their team's performance and stay engaged with the competition in real-time.
