Word Associations App:
I'm writing a series of simple ipad/iphone applications. I want to start by having one fully developed, which will eventually fold into a larger program. I will describe it below:
Part 1 (Training Screen):
-Ipad/iphone application starts by showing one clip art picture in a box at the top of the screen (e.g. clip art image of a dog).
-At the bottom of the screen there will be three boxes with a different clip art picture embedded within each. One of the pictures will be associated with the target picture at the top of the screen (e.g. a bone or a leash would be associated with the dog). The other two pictures will be randomly assigned from the picture bank and will function as distractions.
-The position of the correct associated card will be randomly assigned in each separate presentation of the cards.
-The user should press and drag the correct associated picture to the target picture at the top of the screen.
-If the card selected is the correct association with the target card, the app will give feedback by having the card fit exactly and will play a sound byte that I will provide.
-If the card selected is NOT the correct associated card with the target card, the card will not be allowed to be placed exactly on top of the target card. It will send the card back to the respective square at the bottom of the screen and will play a sound byte that I will provide for negative feedback.
-If the card moved is correct, a new target card will be generated after the reinforcing sound byte is played, and 3 new cards will be randomly assigned in the bottom 3 boxes (including the correct associated card).
- If the card moved is incorrect, the child will continue to match the cards until the correct association card is placed on the target card. The information about the incorrect responses will be stored in the app and will be accessed through a link.
This cycle continues 10 times, unless prematurely ended by user (through button press (data not collected – scrapped)). After the cycle is ended the application displays answer percentage data (for example "80% Correct", and well as storing percentage correct. At this point, three menu options present "Start New Trial," "Review Data," "Review Incorrect." Start new trial starts the cycle again. Review Data takes you to the Data Screen. Review Incorrect starts the cycle, but instead of 10 random flash cards, each incorrect flashcard from the previous cycle comes up again a single time.
Part 2 (Data Screen):
Shows each cycle that has taken place, with accompanying percent correct and date/time. Also shows a graph of all historical cycles with percent correct on the y-axis and cycle number on the x-axis.
Also contains the ability to delete sessions or modify percentages. The data screen also has a button called "Missed flash cards;" when clicked, it displays a list of all of the images where the answer was input incorrectly during cycles. Images can be deleted. If one chooses to, they can run a "Practice Cycle" using all of the images that were missed on previous sessions.
One final piece of information is session date labels to line graph data points.
As this is an ongoing project, more opportunities will be available in the future for satisfactory performance. That said, this may be a long term commitment.
Potential developers should send a resume/portfolio to this e-mail address and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
Applicants must be available to interact on a consistent basis, preferably via Skype. Updates and/or changes may be a necessary factor, especially with the first few apps developed. Additional pay will be provided for any updates required.
Please send an estimate regarding how much this kind of program would run, as well as any questions you may have regarding the initial application.
We look forward to hearing from you!
