I am looking for a freelancer with experience in video streaming on mobile devices.
I want to be able to stream video files from Samba (SMB) devices over a network. This involves creating a local server component that reads the file using the free jCIFS library, and then handles the local serving of the file to any compatible video player using the HTTP 206 Partial Content header.
The server should support regular playback, pause and skipping. Subtitle support is not required, but if the video player requests other files than the video player, these should be either ignored or served.
I don't need a fancy user interface or anything like that. Just a simple Activity class with string fields in which I can enter the file path, user name and password. The application should then start playback of the video file in the file path.
I'm planning on implementing this functionality in another existing application. There are a number of applications on the Google Play store that are capable of streaming video from SMB network sources, so it's definitely possible and shouldn't take too long for someone familiar with network protocols and Sockets in Java.
