We are transitioning GlobeChat ([url removed, login to view]) from a Global Communications app to an app with a focus on Global Dating. Currently the GlobeChat app allows people to communicate with others anywhere in the world with instantly translated messages. The app is functional and an extremely useful tool, however right now it does not have a "wow" factor or a hook that keeps people on the app or keeps them coming back. Nor is it making any revenue currently. We are looking to do a few things in regards to a redesign and relaunch with a dating focus...
1. We want to simplify the app with keeping the instant language translation anywhere in the world as a central focus and differentiator to the multitudes of other dating apps on the market. We want it to be a clean, simple, elegant, beautiful design. Simplicity of Tinder but with a more beautiful and sophisticated feel. I have attached a photo of something you may use as an example that I found online that I really like, however not limited to something like this. Open minded to a designers creativity.
2. Radar... the ability to see people around you based on the users specific preferences (again similar to Tinder but on a global scale). So if I were to land in Paris and turn on the app I would be able to see people around me in Paris... if I sent a message to a French girl for example she would see my message in French and I would see her reply to me in English. Again, simplicity is the key... we want to rebrand this as an app that literally connects anyone in the world regardless of language or distance. Perhaps with a new tag line of "Love is all around you"... but open minded to the ideas of the designers.
3. In terms of revenue, possibly a three tiered pricing system for a premium subscription. Women would always be free... to join, to send friend requests, to send and receive messages. Men would have to pay. It would be free for men to join, to search profiles, to send messages to women, to send friend requests... however if a woman sent them a message they could see the woman profile and perhaps one small portion of the text as a teaser but not the full message. Men would be required to buy a premium packages which then would allow them to view the messages sent to them. perhaps a higher priced one month premium profile... with discount increments for 6 months and 12 months.
Our goal is to identify an amazing designer to map out the redesign on iOS and Android for the relaunch and then work together to create the new designs. We would love to see some ideas and concepts from you of how you would envision GlobeChat as it transitions to a dating app. Please feel free to forward a sample of your ideas to firstname.lastname@example.org.
