We are looking to integrate email into our bespoke web based helpdesk app. We envisage it working in the same way that email works within Facebook.
The key objectives are:
- Automatically processing inbound emails and copying subject and body to MSSQL.
- Enabling emails to be linked to existing or new tickets.
- Capturing email replies, automatically linking them to related tickets.
- Alerting the agent or the client of new or reply emails.
We are currently using SBS 2003, VS2008 and ASP.NET 3.5, but are open to upgrading any of these as required.
We are also open to suggestions of an alternate mail server, or a different approach to achieve the above.
