The program should be written in vb.net or c# and use an access database or SQL Server 2005 as the backend. Source code must be provided with the project.
The system will be used in a retail fast food store/restaurant. The user interface should look very professional, and easy to navigate.
The system should be able to do the following:
1)Take orders and save them to the database (everything should be timestamped for auditing)
2)Print receipts to a receipt printer
3)Easily edit order buttons on the interface.
4)Credit Card Processing through internet (ie. [url removed, login to view])
5)Gift Card Functionality
6)End User security Enabled System (ie. User/Supervisor/Manager Access Levels)
Please look at [url removed, login to view], as the functionality should be very similar.
Please look at [url removed, login to view] , as the display should have a similar look-and-feel.
A touch screen will be used with the program (no keyboard/mouse) so please keep that in mind for this project in regards to the interface development. (ie. large buttons for navigation and menu items, on screen keyboard/number pad)
Some notes on this project: It will be a windows based application, with the possibility to extend it to a ASP.Net Ajax enabled site to be able to modify product pricing and generate reports after completion. After a candidate has been selected and work has completed, they will likely be awarded that project as well.
Also note, we are looking to create a business relationship with whoever we choose. We currently have 4 other programming projects we are looking to develop as well, and will likely use the same candidate on future development projects if they meet our expectations. We currently have programmers on staff, and all projects will be reviewed by them for how well they have been created.
Recommended Libraries to Use:
While not a requirement, we recommend that the person chosen use the following libraries from devexpress (http://www.devexpress.com/Downloads/NET/DXperience/ ) . You can download a trial version to test the functionality. We currently use these libraries for our development due to the end user exprience and ease of functionality. Also, most of our database programming is done with Devexpress XPO (http://www.devexpress.com/Products/NET/Libraries/XPO/ ) for it's multiplatform database development.
