F5 iRule for facilitating recycling a IIS application pool in an F5 pool

1. I’m after an iRule as follows… basically I want to let our IIS application pools recycle more gracefully recycle by being unavailable on a regular basis unless one or more of the nodes in the F5 pool are unavailable, in which case one of the nodes will out of necessity be covering the other…

- So look at Irule_MyTest

when HTTP_REQUEST {

if { [string tolower [HTTP::host]] eq "[login to view URL]" } {

persist none

catch { pool Pool-Mobile }

}

}

- What I’d like it to say is that if there is one or more unavailable F5 nodes, the please behave much like above… i.e. go to the F5 pool and the F5 pool will decide which one to service the request

- However if the time is between say 02:00 and 06:00, then go to a specific IP address within the F5 pool, otherwise go to another specific IP address within the F5 pool (actually this last bit I might modify eventually to just go to the pool in general like above

- This will give some regular time for all the services to have connections die away gracefully during the day and then recycle the memory this way rather than be forced to recycle at various intervals
