I am a webdesigner but focus on doing BASIC websites. I had a call today from a potential customer who wants a website made for a new printing company. They want it very similar to this website; [url removed, login to view]
They require the following;
* General public view - able to choose products, QTY, type of paper, etc and click on "quote" and get an instant quote appear. (see [url removed, login to view])
* Graphic designer view - able to log in, same as general public view but because the artwork is already done the prices will be cheaper. Other than that, all the same as above.
* Accounting & Job tracking (back-end) - Client wants to be able to log in, and process/add orders on the server rather than in to a database at the office so they can be accessed from anywhere. He wants it to automatically generate emails in Outlook (so he can keep track of them in sent items) as steps are completed, eg: payment received, proof sent, sent to printers, etc... He wants the customers Ph # to be used as the primary key in the database, so when adding a new job - if the same phone number has been used before, it will automatically fill in the blanks of the customers details... Very automated - basically the entire business will be ran from this back end functionality.
* Job tracking - he wants the clients to be able to track their orders based on the above accounting system. On the general public view of the site he wants them to be able to enter their order number and it list the processes that have already been completed for the current job and all outstanding jobs..
If you require more information, please contact me. This job is way above my ability, so I am looking for someone who feels they are up to the job!
Look forward to your replies.
Customer said he did have programmers in Pakistan doing this for him, but they were taking too long - he wants to keep cost as low as possible, but i'm happy for an honest quote as I want the customer to realise how intense the programming required would be. I am looking to hand the customers details over to someone who is capable of completing the project.
