We (an independent retail store with a functioning OsCommerce store) have an urgent need for the following coding. The database we’re dealing with is rather large, just under 70,000 products.
A new php inventory page.
Similar to or an exact copy of the standard OsCommerce “Quick Find” entry box. The user would scan the UPC code into this box and one of two things would happen.
1. Item Found. Cursor skips to a text entry box on the same page to enter a quantity. User then hits “enter”, products_quantity field is updated in the database, and page resets to “next scan”.
2. Item Not Found. Go to new page; “Detailed Search Page”. This page would have text entry boxes for each of the following fields in the “products” table.
d. Products_description keywords
If entry of some or any of these additional details finds the product, return to the first page and prompt user to update the quantity. If entry & search results in multiple products that might be the one in question, display a list of those possible hits with these details filled in the text boxes. If this search still fails to find the item in the database, prompt user to go to next page.
3. New Product Page. The text box fields will be as follows:
This page would need a submit button, and upon completing would be written to a text file instead of writing to the database. Hopefully the text file could be in csv or convertible to such, and in batch form named by the date of entry.
This project wil involve some modifications to standard osc files along with additional files. It will involve both standard osc mysql tables & some new ones that are already loaded but not yet written into the php.
These new pages are part of our effort to go live with our oscommerce store & a POS system in the real store sharing the same database. We'll release additional related projects in the near future.
