Hard drive file analyzer

A PERL script is needed to LOCALLY analyze hard drive contents. The file should be able to be run just by double clicking it and then the script should ask for a drive letter to analyze. We have ActiveState Perl installed on the computer.

The script should analyze indicated drive, going through every folder and sub folder, looking at ALL the files. If there are problems, the script should write to a NEW log, with the date and time as the file name for the log - e.g. 030520081206.txt. This log should be written to the root of the drive indicated that needs analyzing, e.g. if the drive indicated is E, then the log file should be written to E:

Date, and time in 24 hour format for the log name. The log MUST BE a text file, .txt.

The problems that should be logged:

File size is under 1000kb if it is a .tif file.

File size is under 50kb if it is an .eim file.

Every .tif file should be paired with a .eim file.

e.g.

[url removed, login to view]

[url removed, login to view]

[url removed, login to view]

[url removed, login to view]

If there is no matching .tif for an .eim or no matching .eim for a .tif, this should be logged.

Also, if there are any files that are NOT .eim or .tif, this should be logged.

The log entries should be one of these entries, depending on the situation.

In folder X on the Y drive, file $filename is only xx kb.

In folder X on the Y drive, file $filename does not have a matching .eim file.

In folder X on the Y drive, file $filename does not have a matching .tif file.

In folder X on the Y drive, file $filename is not a .eim or .tif file.

X indicates the folder name and Y indicates the drive letter,

$filename indicates the name of the file, xx indicates the size of the file in kb.

Specifications

Files in folder are indicated by a p, followed by a page number, with a preceding zero if the page is 1 through 9. If there are over 99 pages, there are two preceeding zeros.
