Looking for a Perl-based or similar programming solution that would be able to run on Windows 7 (and ideally Mac OS X as well) that would be able to:
- Connect to a POP3 mail server, retrieve messages from the server, and extract specific snippets of text from the e-mails and then append the information to one of two text files (based on the Subject of the email message).
- For some email messages, the code would also need to be able to "click" on a Web link in the e-mail and then extract one text snippet from the clicked upon Web page.
- The code would ideally need to be customizable enough to make minor changes if needed -- i.e. if the text to be searched for in an e-mail changes slightly.
I will write this with HTML documentation and easy customisability for you in Perl, including a browser-based or desktop "admin" script if you like; all included in quote.

Easy job with Python. There are some known Libs can be used. I have much experience on text parse and mail related. It is one of the steps of our automation. Thanks.
Sounds like a fun straight-forward project. I have lots of experience with information extraction and screen scraping. IN a few different languages including Perl.
