Overview
The purpose of the application is to update records from a local Access database to a remote Access database residing on an internet server. Both databases have the same structure and there are master-details relationships with up to 4 levels deep. The master table contains a blob field where images need to be stored.
Requirements
What is required is a basic prototype that transfers records (ie. master record and its details) from local to remote. Records can either already exist (therefore updated) or not (therefore inserted).
I was thinking of using ADO hierarchical recordsets, outputted to a Stream object. In turn this Stream object is sent to the remote server via the XML HTTP object. All this happens within a VB6 client application.
A server-side script (ASP) must reside on the server and this receives the stream. The stream must be translated back to a hiearchical recordset, and all updates/inserts performed of each main & child recordset within the hierarchy.
The structure of the database is irrelevant as only the transfer functionality is of importance.
