We are a company that sells/distributes motorcycles and scooters to individuals companies and retailers. We would like to develop a stock or inventory control system that tracks on a daily basis the status of our stock/inventory. Here is a description of what happens -
We make an order for a shipment of motorcycles from one of the manufacturers who supply us. The shipment/order information (fields) should have our Supplier name, Invoice No., Invoice date, Date of receipt at our warehouse.
Each shipment/order may have anywhere from 20 – 70 motorcycles in it. Each motorcycle in a shipment has a unique chassis and engine number. The motorcycle information (fields) is Manufacturer, Model, Engine No. Chassis No. Key No. Color
When the shipment first arrives in our warehouse it is typically in a box. The vehicle is then unpacked and assembled. After assembly it is inspected by our chief technician, this is referred to as a PDI (pre-delivery inspection). After that it is ready for booking by our sales team or for direct delivery to customers and dealers. Whilst in the warehouse the information on each vehicle is boxed, assembled, PDI complete, booked.
Delivery is either to a customer (who purchased the vehicle) or to one of our dealers (who displays the vehicle but does not necessarily purchase it).
Only after a vehicle is delivered can its record be locked and no further activity allowed on its record.
WHAT IS REQUIRED?
Is a system which tracks the status of each motorcycle in every order. At the same time we would like to have a daily record (picture) of the stock/inventory. Which motorcycles have been sold, which ones are in boxes, which ones are booked and which ones have been assembled but not inspected, etc.
If vehicles are on display with dealers and not sold then we would like to allocate and link the vehicle with the dealer. Hence we will need a table/data for entering our dealers.
The system should be internet-based with only two user levels. One user with full authority to change/enter data as well as view/generate reports and another user with less privileges - only allowed to see the reports generated by the system.
Service provider should be able to set-up and test the system on our website.
