Php, Asp, Mysql
Thank you for taking the time to consider our project. We run a local business directory, called directme.com.au. Situated in Australia, we provide a website where businesses can buy a webpage for their business on our website. We provide the business with a full webpage of information, included text, photos, contact details etc. Please visit our website first, as the below brief will make more sense.
However, we would like to expand [url removed, login to view] by added some new features, but keeping the existing design as is. We would like to incorporate a database and make the website dynamic. We are after a front end feature for people viewing our website to be able to search efficiently.
Also we would like a backend section, where our administration department can log into the site, and be able to add and remove businesses information to and from the database.
Our current method of searching with html links, means some pages required to search now, will not be needed with the new system.
We are happy for the project to be completed in mysql, and with either php or asp programming.
The front end:
Our homepage requires a search facility, similar to that on Yahoo Local Search. We would like the search to be very easy and simple to use, but effective. We would like the search facility to go where the existing flash banner is on the homepage. Users should be able to search by either one, or multiples of;
© Business Name
Once a user enters their search details, we require a results page. This page should display the results that match the search criteria, in a format the same, or similar to this page [url removed, login to view] where you can see that the businesses are listed out neatly according to the search criteria. The business details listing also requires a link to their full webpage, similar to where we currently have “Full Webpage”
Secondly, we have a map on Australia on the homepage, (which will be updated ) that enables the user to search by region. We would like the user to be able to click on a state of Australia;
© New South Wales
© South Australia
© Northern Territory
© Western Australia
© Australian Capital Territory
From here, once a state is clicked, the results page will list all the suburbs, and business within those suburbs alphabetically. From here, once again, users need to be able to click off to view a businesses full webpage.
The back end:
We require a section that only website administrators can access via a login system. This section will need a form where we can add and delete a business from our database. Fields required are;
© business name
© street address
© phone number
© mobile number
© fax number
© email address
© contact person (Title, First Name, Last Name)
This is how we see the project. If you believe you can implement an improved / easier solution, by all means, please put your ideas forward to us. All new features need to fit into our existing design / template.
We would also prefer (but not essential) some references to previous projects that you have worked on.
We would like the winning bid to supply us with;
© a database design
© brief documentation as how they plan to implement the solution
© how the end result will function
We would like to be able to view the solution on a testing server before being finalized, in case any minor changes are required.
We may have more work in the future for the right person.
Thank you very much, and we hope to hear from you soon!
