I am looking for help in writing a simple Processing 'sketch' (or script) which pulls web traffic data from anyone of the major search engines. The script needs to pull search hits for 8 generalized research topics (philosophy, poetry, art, history, commerce, religion, science, and law) on their own and then needs to pull search hits for ALL combinatorial possibilities up to 4 topics for each particular research subject. From my calculations thats around 127 total search possibilities that need to be put into some sort of quantifiable numerical data. The combinatorial possibilities easily break down into a simply factorial algorithm, I'm just unsure of what it is and how to write a script to do it.
For example - philosophy AND poetry || philosophy AND art AND history || philosophy AND religion AND science AND law [ so this would be the MAX number of topics for combinatorial queries] || etc etc
- If possible I would like to be able to manipulate this eventually within Processing (PDE), see [url removed, login to view] for more information. I believe Processing will openly accept Java scripts, but I'll have to double check on this.
- I have a code started within Processing pulling information from Yahoo's search engine, if the bidder knows Processing it would be easiest to simply expand upon this intial 'sketch' to get it to output the specific data I am looking for. Although this particular 'sketch' no longer works because Yahoo! has made changes to their API it will still be provided to give an example of what I am looking for in this work.
