The project is for creation of our for profit company website. The project is mostly functional implementation with some part art/graphics. Our business makes custom automotive and motorcycle parts. This is a fairly small Ecommerce website with 2 possibly tricky (or fun depending on your attitude) features.
We expect this to use some form of CMS, preferrably Joomla.
Please indicate which CMS package(s) you are experienced with and enough info to convince us you can do the job. Any required templates or artwork will be purchased for you so does not need to be considered as part of your bid.
Site theme and graphics reflecting automobile and motorcycle customization. This means images of heavily modified cars and bikes with unusual paint, not stock pictures of current cars. Use of commercial stock photos is expected instead of creating images in a graphics editor. For this version of the website there will be few graphics, probably just one large image for the home page header.
Use of a CMS like Joomla or Mambo. Will consider other CMS packages. We already have a joomla template we like and would prefer to use. The site will contain the following pages
Home Page: We will provide text.
How It Works: We will provide text. Will have link to download a file.
Download: Downloads a file.
Auto Parts: We will provide text.
Motorcycle Parts: We will provide text.
Software Version Test: Basically our software will call this URL with its current version number embedded. The website checks to see if that is the latest version number and either informs the user they have the current version or that they have an older version and provides a link to download newest copy of the software.
Contacts: Sends the user entered comments to our email address.
Order Status: Will require user login. Will show status of customer’s order. The order states are: Order Received. Preliminary Review. In Production. Shipped. Each state should be listed, and as they are completed the date of completion should be shown. If there are multiple orders each order should be shown separately. An administrator interface will be needed to update the order status.
User Contact Update Page: Once the user has logged in, they will need a page where they can update their contact info, password, etc.
Design Library: This is a listing of thumbnail based images of data files used by our application. The images should be grouped into categories. If the user hovers over the thumbnail a larger image will be shown (lightbox). If the user clicks on the thumbnails name (text), the data file is downloaded. A search capability is needed that will display images based on image data tags. Results should be based on most relevant. There appear to be existing joomla modules that provide the image gallery capabilities, not sure about the search part. An administrator interface will be required for adding/removing samples.
Place an Order: Our business model has the customer use our software to create a design that we then produce. Ideally we would like the user to create an account/login and then upload our design file. The file format is XML. The website will then parse the data file to determine what products are being ordered and build the order accordingly. The data file is then stored so that we can produce the appropriate parts. The rest of the order would be your typical shopping cart experience. After the order is placed, an automatically generated email is sent with the order number, etc.
