# Consumer Electronics Online Store
We are a startup, on-line electronics retailer that sells high quality I-Pod sound systems. We are looking for someone to build us a website that is stylish, but not expensive. I'd prefer to stay away from templates so our site can stand apart from others, but would consider one if it was the right look. We are also aware of many open source shopping cart systems (Zen Cart, Virtuemart, etc.) and we are not opposed to such systems. We support the open source community. Furthermore, we would also accept an open source content management system such as Joomla or Drupal.
## Product Images and Descriptions
We will provide links to the manufacturers sites for you to use to gather graphics, descriptions, and other information for the site. If you need an example, check out [url removed, login to view] and [url removed, login to view]
## Non-Functional Requirements
Developer will use their own servers for development and testing. We will host the site on our own servers once work has been tested and approved. Site design must be approved by us before we will authorize development.
## How to Respond to This Request
Please present to us (in addition to your time and cost estimate) copies (or links) of your work that you feel best matches the type of site we're looking for. In addition, please provide 2 customer references that we may contact. Estimates without these two requirements will not be considered.
### Professional Look and Feel
Our customers are tech-savy people that appreciate fine sound quality. They will certainly be able to distinguish between a cheap (entry level) website design. That's why we will require a web 2.0 look and feel for the site. It doesn't have to be the flashiest site on the web, but it can't look like a grade school student's homework assignment either.
### Product Search
Users must be able to search for a product. Searching will return results based on product name and/or product description.
Our products will change occasionally, so we need the ability to make changes to the products, or add/delete products as necessary after the site is complete, and live. We want the ability to make these changes ourselves, without the assistance of a software developer. The products should be stored in a database. We will need to display images of the products in thumbnail and full-size formats. We would like to give logged-in customers the ability to rate each product.
### Cart Features
Users must be able to add items to their cart as well as modify and delete items in their cart. Shipping costs will be calculated based on UPS shipping. Integration with UPS is required to provide accurate pricing.
We will not require that a the customer create an account to be able to purchase from us. They will have to provide an e-mail address. We will only support PayPal Pro for payment processing. We want the customer be able to use a credit card, but do not want to process the credit card. We prefer if PayPal handles all that. We might decide to add other checkout options later, but are willing to start with just Pay Pal in the beginning. Checkout will not be successful unless we receive a Success message from PayPal.
### Order Notification
After the checkout is successful, the customer will receive an e-mail notification notifying them that their order has been received. An e-mail will also be sent to one or more e-mail addresses that we provide. This e-mail will include the details of the order including the billing information, shipping information, product information, etc. so we can process the order.
### Order Tracking
Once the customers order has been processed, we will need the ability to change the status of the order to Shipped. Once the status changes to Shipped, the system will send an e-mail notification to the customer saying that their order has shipped. It would be nice if we could also provide a tracking number for UPS.
