I would like to add pseudo streaming video functionality to my Wordpress website. I would like users to have the ability to seek in the video's timeline to positions that have not yet been downloaded to the player. (I do not want to embed videos from youtube. The videos need to be located in my directories on my hosting services servers. I use powweb.com.)
One particular Wordpress plugin apparently offers this feature, but I have been unable to make videos play in http pseudo streaming mode. See [url removed, login to view]
My preferred solution would be to get this plugin working.
Another acceptable solution which would be to implement an xmoovStream server on my site. see here: [url removed, login to view]
If there is another low cost solution I am willing to consider it. My bandwidth needs are quite low so I'd prefer to avoid a content deliver network (CDN) solution.
1) My video cam creates mp4 files. If your solution requires that I convert these files to other formats, encode them or add metadata to them, there needs to be open source software for ubuntu linux that I can use to accomplish that. In other words, the solution isn't a solution if I have no way of creating the proper file formats using freeware.
2) Not sure if it matters but I am using a headway theme within Wordpress.
