**_Java document and image acquisition (scanning) via TWAIN to database storage application (MySQL), and basic database browsing capability._**
The platform for the client application will be Windows XP, and should be compatible with a freely available Java implementation such as that from Sun. Various scanners with ADF (automatic document feeder) will be used, compliant with the most recent TWAIN specification.
While the application is targeted to high-capacity network driver document feeder/scanning system, you should have at least a basic scanner with ADF to insure your application is working correctly.
The platform for the database storage will be MySQL 4.1 running on Linux (Fedora Core 3).
Basic database browsing will be mainly a proof-of-concept and to evaluate functionality of the client application, Apache 2, PHP4, perl and other basic image manipulation software such as ImageMagick, etc. such that would be easily installed and updated via RPM or CPAN on a Linux (Fedora Core) platform.
This application includes only basic functionality, and will be expanded upon with additional functionality in successive bid requests. It should therefore be written with good documentation, in a modular fashion, and include opportunity for expansion, and debugging. The recipient of the initial work will be given priority on working on future expansions.
