We are looking for several programmers to help build up our core team. This will be part-time work on small projects that you can fit into your typical schedule (we don’t have major tight deadlines). We are members of several sports-related websites from which we gather information, stats, scores, etc. on a daily basis. To make our internal systems easier, we want to create automatic procedures to either download text results files where available, or scrape/download the results page if text files are not available.
Phase I of work is to simply write procedures to visit the pages daily (or multiple times a day) and copy down text files or screens.
Phase II of work will be to parse the data from the scraped pages into a text file.
Please send us the following:
- Your hourly rate (we do not want a bid, as this will be ongoing support work as new tasks come up)
- Please tell us a little bit about yourself
- Please send an example of Ruby code you have written, or a scraper job you have written.
If we select you we will send you your first task, for which you can estimate the number of hours you plan on spending.
