We're a small mobile games company looking to create our revamped website on a new, mainstream CMS. We have the mock-ups and an Ops team to do all the installation, we just need a web development team to convert our PSDs into HTML and customize the CMS they are most familiar with to fit our requirements. It will be like building a new website from scratch. Our hard deadline for launch is early November. We are looking for companies with good references, (no individuals please), and good communication on progress. We have a point person who will be responsive to any questions during the development process.
CMS requirement: we are open to suggestions, however we strongly prefer an existing mainstream CMS that's built in PHP, Ruby or Java space, such as WordPress. We are not interested in a custom CMS being built for us. By mainstream, we mean that we can easily find books and other developers to work on it. You should be able to add custom components to the CMS without modifying the CMS itself.
HIGH LEVEL REQUIREMENTS
We do not need any ecommerce functionality.
Catalog - we need to manage product landing pages for our games (about 50+). These product landing pages will have content modules that can be turned on and off. The product page will also have different states - admin view, coming soon view, etc. The page can be scheduled - ex. switch to live status when a game launches. Note that a game may have different versions (ex. paid vs free vs iphone vs android) so the catalog should be able to handle storing and delivering different info relating to the same game depending on the version selected.
Ad spots - we need flexible spots across the site for ads that we can schedule and queue for showing up. When there is no ad, the layout will simply roll up as if the ad spot was never there. We have mocks for this.
Device-detection - the layout will change based on the device the site is being viewed on. We have 2 layouts - one for tablet and desktop and one for mobile. Content will also change based on the device - ex. showing all iPhone games on the catalog list when viewed on an iPhone. Some parts of the layout should be swipe-able when viewed on an iPad or iPhone.
Feeds - some modules on the site will pull in the last post onTwitter (based on a specified tag), blog (based on a specified tag) and Facebook page feeds.
Admin tools - to manage content around the site, such as creating one-off pages (we will provide the template layout) or text in content pages. We should be able to preview changes before they go live.
3rd party integration: there will be some work to ensure our site integrates with our email service provider and customer service portal (mainly making sure new emails/accounts are synced between the main site and the third party service, and perhaps tagged based on what page the user came from)
Top charts - should be able to pull in data from a third party report source (AppAnnie) or our own internal database (we can write an API for you to pull data from) and list games by rank
Forums and blog - CMS should come with forums. We are open to keeping our blog on WordPress as well, just updating the layout to match our site.
Social login - CMS should have a feature or plugin for allowing users to login via Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or create a brand new account.
Migration: there will be minimal migration - we need to migrate over active user accounts. Our Ops team can provide the data, you will need to import it. We will also migrate the blog to the new CMS (or we can simply embed our Wordpress blog as is into the new site) Migration is negotiable - please indicate if you can do migration or not in your bid.
- While we only have a small budget, we are open to negotiating price, within reason.
- Examples of game sites: [url removed, login to view], [url removed, login to view], [url removed, login to view]
