We would like a clone of [url removed, login to view] done. Since that website is down right now, I will give you a description of what it looked like. To get a basic sense, try going:
[url removed, login to view]
SimpleSpark took a screen shot of when the site was active. I also attached that screen shot below.
I actually thought of this idea before the guys at DotTheLife partially implemented it. It's basically a site that has a dynamic timeline that you can drag left and right with your mouse. You also have the ability to zoom in and out to see finer details.
But overall the main component of the site is an interactive timeline. Now, the point of the site is for users to input things (whether it be text, pictures, audio, video, and even links to other multimedia content) onto the timeline. Why? The site will be a personal diary, a blog, and a scrapbook all meshed together into something EVEN a LAZY person can do. Yes, it’s targeted to those of us who are too lazy to blog but want a way to keep track of happenings in their lives.
For example, I recently just found a really really good song that I like. For future reference, I can insert the name of the song into my timeline. In the future, when I browse back a year or 10 years from now, I will know when I discovered that song and all the other miscellaneous things associated with that period of time.
[url removed, login to view] used to be a place where users can post events relevant to their life. There was one master timeline that was publicly displayed and users can either choose to add things to the timeline for free or pay a $1 to add links to promote their site. It employs my idea of this draggable timeline but does not go very much beyond this.
What I am asking you to do is to create something like [url removed, login to view] but keep in mind the following major changes:
1) There will be social networking aspects implemented from the start. Users will have their OWN draggable timeline where they can add text or multimedia items.
2) Users can befriend each other.
3) Users can choose to "overlay" their friend's timeline on top of theirs.
4) On the main page, there will be a global timeline (like [url removed, login to view]) that will randomly display publically available items pulled from individual user timelines. Of course, the usual REGISTER, DEMO, FAQ, LOGIN links will also appear on the main page.
5) Even though the site will be very simple, it has to look VERY good. Web designer must be both good at backend and frontend.
There are many many other details that I am not going to disclose publically -- including the actual name of the project, revolutionary new ways of social interaction, etc. If you are selected, we will work out the details via telephone or in person if you are in the Cambridge, MA region. I am willing to pay up to $2,000 to get the frontend and backend done.
Please send portfolios / examples of your former work. Demo is required before sending payment.
To reiterate: the first beta of the project should be fairly simple to construct using PHP, MYSQL, and AJAX. (DHTML & AJAX are preferred over Flash.) The maximum amount money I am willing to pay for the FIRST BETA is $2,000.
