I need a Magento extension modified slightly, to improve the sales reports it can generate.
I am using an "Aheadworks" extension called "Advanced Reports" ([url removed, login to view]) plus an add on for it called "Manufacturer". This extension improves the reporting ability in my magento store, and the add on enables a report to be generated based on the Manufacturer of the product. I will provide these extensions to the successful applicant.
What I want is to modify the "Manufacturer" add on. Instead of creating a report for Sales per Manufacturer, I want instead to create a report on sales per "Product Category".
The above extension filters the Manufacturer Attribute and displays a sales report based on who the manufacturer is of the products sold. What I would like you to do is:
Create a new Attribute called "Product Category". This will have a dropdown list where I can select the relevant product category it belongs to. This attribute will be on all products, but not visible on the front end. It's only purpose is for reporting.
Then modify the add on, and get it to say "Sales By Product Category" instead of manufacturer, and have it create a report based on the Attribute "Product Category". So the report will then display the product category such as "Dog Collars" and show how many sales and the total revenue etc for products within this category. I think this part will be simple for you. I know that I will need to set the product category for every individual product and define the product categories etc.
The next step is for the report to list the actual products sold within each category, and display the quantity, and the revenue etc. So as an example, say there were 10 sales within the product category called 'Dog Collars', and the products sold were, ABC-200, ABC-10, and ABC-102. So when a report is run, it will count all the sales that have a particular product category, and then also capture the SKU and display all the sales data and quantities for each product sold. So then if 10 Dog Collars were sold, I then can then learn which actual products sold and how many etc. Also, add another column that displays the "Average Order Value" and 'Cost'. Please see the attached excel file to see what I want it to look like.
Also, the main extension "Advanced Reports" may be upgraded in the future. Can you make it so any upgrade won't interfere with your modifications?
