I want to use an existing Wordpress template/site at [url removed, login to view] and make it a replicated site. I was told by another WordPress developer that this can be done very easily. He said that you can use WP Sub Domain which allows Authors of the site to have their own sub domain. This can be altered to allow anyone who signs up for the site to have their own sub domain. I would also like to give them the ability to have their own domain name as well.
It would function similar to what we are doing at http://www.getstartersite.com. Each person chooses a username which is placed in front of the domain name. The system uses tags to place their member information such as name, email etc. on the page. They would also be able to upload their picture and have it show up on the site. Each page is identical (replicated) but has the members unique information on the page. You can view the video at [url removed, login to view] and see detailed explanation on the site to see how it woudl work. The only difference is we would be using a Wordpress template for this.
My understanding is that WP Subdomain allows "authors" to have their own section, own sub domain or even use their own domain while using the same site. Some of the pages would be global which the admin (that is me) would set and other pages could be personalized by the author/member. I was told the you can tweak WP Subdomain to allow members to have sub domains. This is what I am trying to accomplish.
Once the site is replicated I want to be able to add some plugins that would be used by each member.
2. Plug in a Contact Manager similar to http://www.contactme.com. I would be very open to simply creating an ability for ContactMe to be plugged into our system. There is a plugin for ContactMe in Wordpress. Each member would get the free version of ContactMe and they can upgrade anytime through the [url removed, login to view] site. I was told by another developer that there are some good Contact Manager plugins that would work as well. I am open.
3. Plug in Mail Chimp so we don't have to worry about email issues any longer. It would be basically free to our members since most of them only send out a few hundred emails a month.
4. With the site being replicated when a guest fills out a contact form requesting more information etc. that contact form information would need to post to that members Contact Manager at ContactMe or MailChimp or both. Ideally the member needs to have the ability to track their visitors with a Contact Manager and then be able to send them autoresponder messages through MailChimp.
5. I would also like to create a few other WordPress sites and have it tied into the main replicated Wordpress site so each member who subscribes would be able to use several websites with their member ID in front of the domain name. It would give me the ability to do exactly what I am doing with [url removed, login to view] but much more professional looking as well as the ability to add plugins into the Wordpress site that each member would be able to use.
[url removed, login to view] site would be subscription based. The members would pay a monthly fee to use the site. There would need to be a signup page where they can subscribe to our service and then select the username they want to use for the site which would become their sub domain. All of this would need to be automated and linked to our Paypal Pro account.
I hope I have explained this well.
