1) implement database into existing PERL program to hold usernames/accounts (with logins/passwords)
2) accounting features to keep track (in real-time) of account balances (due/payable, etc.) as clients and we adjust and add entries into their accounts
Accounting/Calculations for each user account need to be implemented. For example, if User “A” has 17 entries in the database, we need to be able to view User “A”'s account and have the total that he has paid and the total that remains due displayed. Totals will need to be adjusted in real time, as more data is input (such as shipping charges, etc.) Spreadsheet style of displaying this will be preferred, so that both user and administrator are able to see how the totals have been derived. We already have a program written in PERL which may work very well for much of this project if integrated and modified as needed. "Incentive Program" will eventually need to be implemented (for example, every 10th transaction has discounted service fee).
We need the ability to, for example, search for a certain user's account, see which orders we've received for that user and not yet shipped, then we need the ability to enter “total combined weight”, “number of packages being sent,” and “dimensions” of those packages. These details are integral for knowing costs to users, and therefore, they are part of the calculations needed.
Many of the calculations are already in place in our existing program.
Currently, our program is split into two databases for two different locations. We need those two back-end (admin) databases merged into one back-end database, but with designations for each entry which clearly show us the source of the entry (origination location).
Databases must have no size limitations and have offline backup (and auto-backup) ability with security features.
Confidentiality agreement will be required.
