We have an existing coupon aggregator site built, that requires integration or creation of a script to automate the loading of deals in each city on a daily basis.
This website is for the Australian market, and once a script has been integrated to automate the posting of deals from coupon sites, will be duplicated for an identical USA coupon aggregator site. So remember this is for two near identical sites - an Australian one and a USA one.
We are looking to hire someone to integrate a script (such as the agriya feedy script) or create their own one to work with our site to automate the deal loading process, by utilising RSS/XML feeds provided by group buying sites, and where these are not available, by scraping the needed content direct from target domain. The coupon sites we want to display deals from will be provided to the successful bidder).
We will supply our existing code and are happy for the winning bidder to re-write or modify our code, so long as what you're doing is documented (via PHP or HTML comments within the file).
Our front end design is completed.
Our system uses Wordpress for the CMS and an sql database. Each coupon is stored as a Wordpress custom post. The coupons are displayed by calling this information from the database. Therefore we need to be able to store the information from your feed as PHP variables, and then have a script that automatically creates a coupon entry (Wordpress custom post) for each coupon.
The following Wordpress custom fields are used for each coupon. Your feed will need to be able to populate each of these fields:
URL link to coupon on sellers site
Thumbnail image (our images are 100 x 100 pixel image but can possibly be changed to match your image dimensions)
Source company logo (image URL)
Other wordpress post variables are set when a coupon is published including
Date coupon is published (website will only show coupons published on today's date)
Categories (these need to match the names of categories from the feed, but can be changed to correspond to your feed categories if necessary)
Dining & Drinking
Wine & Beer (18+ only)
Clothing and Fashion
Electronics & Gadgets
Food & Produce
Hair & Beauty
Health & Fitness
Home & Garden
Values for all of these fields can be set via PHP using standard Wordpress functions.
Accompanying each deal we manually input into a field a brief 'coupon introduction', which is a short sentence that on the front end displays just above the Coupon Heading.
Our site displays coupons one at a time (one per page), instead of the usual large number of deals for a given city on a single page.
-Can coupons from your feed be updated on a daily basis (once per day), or do new coupons appear throughout the day? The script that would add new coupons to the database would possibly need to run as a cron job at specific times depending on when new coupons are added.
- The US and Australian versions of the site use the same code, but use separate databases. Therefore I assume that a separate feed would need to be setup for the US and Australian sites.
- If you have a different suggestion or method to integrate the feed in to our site then could you please provide the details to see whether it will work with our code and if it is likely to cause any conflicts.
- We require the ability to easily enter our affiliate ID for various coupon sites into a field to enable us to start earning affiliate commissions.
-Require the coupons for a user's selected city and preference deal categories to be exportable to an email client. The email will show all the listed daily coupons for a specific city and set of coupon categories.
We require this to be completed in the shortest possible time period as the rest of the site (x 2 - one Australian and one USA) is complete and is awaiting launch.
