The client wants some products to have this selection guide:

Notice that some products have this guide and soem dont.
Honestly, We only talked about having one selection guide for Indoor, so no mater what the Snow Melting module has to be modified because it is presently tied into the Floor Warming module which is not correct. But seeing what you did with the indoor "Selection Guide" it might be a lot easier just to make a second "Selection Guide" within the Snow Melting module using somewhat the same parameters as the "Selection Guide" as the Floor Warming module. I think it will make it easier to identify what product goes with what module. The two guides would then be completely separated and should have no association with each other at all.
Ex: When using admin and adding any product to the database, you will have the option via a drop down menu to either select "Indoor" or "Outdoor" which will define what modules Selection Guide it is associated with. This may be quicker and easy for your programmers verses completely setting up different code. There are only a few minor differences in the "Selection Guide" page layout, and they are as follows:
"Conductor Cable Series" would now read "Product Type" Options would be "Cable" or " Snow Mat" (The one not selected would be an option just as in the Floor Warming Selection Guide)
"Area Description" would remain the same
"Open Floor Area" would now read "Snow Melting Area"
"Electrical Supply" would remain the same. Drop down option would read "All System Specifications Based On 240V Supply, for other options please use the "Custom Cable Quote Request Form" (This would be linked to that form)*
*** At our meeting we talked about adding a "Custom Cable Quote Request Form" I did not see that anywhere on the site....not saying it isn't here, just might not be looking in the right place. As noted above, that would need to be added and linked if it is not already built.
"Type of Application" would remain the same. Options would now read "Concrete" or "Asphalt / Pavers in Sand"
Although the basic parameters of the internal code would be the same, there would need to be a few changes made for the Snow Melting code to work properly. The main data input used to make a product selection would be "Product Type" + "Snow Melting Area" + "Type of Application". These 3 inputs would result in the proper product choice. All the associated controls would all ready be included in that choice automatically and would not need to be part of the calculation code. Would be a simple product selection, add to cart and done.
Before we get into all of that.....is this approach we should take? I think it makes a lot of sense but I don't know what is involved on your side.
Fromclient’s explanation there are 2 options available to us:
· Indoormodules goes through the Selection guide procedure, where a user is presentedwith a few options and user selects products and make payment. Outdoor module(still not done), will be a manual selection of products from available [url removed, login to view] there will be no selection procedure for the outdoor module (i.e. SnowMelting products), but user can still buy the products online. In this case weneed to detach the Snow Warming products from Floor warming products.
· Wecreate a module similar to Floor Warming for Snow Melting products. In thiscase, both the selection procedure will be separately handled and in both casesuser will have to enter a criteria (as explained below by the client) and thenthe site will presented a list of products to choose from. Here the productswithin Floor warming will be separated for selection procedure from SnowMelting products.
Both the above options are possible and as I understand from client’scomments, it would be user friendly to have second option.
