Voice Chat Details
This is an inter office communications program where we are trying to connect to our remote office having very bleak bandwidths(9 kbps on dialup approx) on a voice network via the Web.
The control has to support Voice as well as Text Chat.
Structure of Voice Chat Operation
Connect to Server
Session ID, IP recorded on Server Database.
Session ID recorded on Client Log.
Client Sends ID, Department and Password
Server Authenticates adds UserName and time of Login.
Ack, Time of Connection recorded in Client Log
User connected to site.
Can Call other Department Staff by choosing their Department on site There would be 15 departments each having 20 to 25 people. (When we implement this internationally after local remote run there would be approx 350 departments and sub departments and each would have 300 to 900 people ki ndly advice on that situation)
If staff of 1 Department is Busy transfer call to Other Staff of Same Department. If all busy, show All Busy and add to a Queue. Keep transferring people in queue to Department Staff as they get free.
Should be able to Call another person of the same department to join voice chat if help is needed.
Should be able to keep one or more on mute while doing chat with many people So that what he speaks goes to whom he wishes it to go.
Should be able to call another department to join chat.
Should be able to redirect the staff to a different department if the staff calling called the wrong [url removed, login to view] in same department if some department specialist has to take care.
People of QA Department have special ability to quietly get into any chat and view and hear both parties.
They can even record these chats for further actions or reference.
Not more than 500kb to 800kb complet e download size. Including support and all.
3 Kbps to 8 Kbps try free protocols like Speex.
Should work across
Any other such communication barriers
Should be secure
Data being transferred on net should not be intercept-able and should be secure.
Since we are operating in the Internet domain we are very apprehensive about security.
Primarily on Windows would do but final submission has to be supported by *nix, Mac and Windows.
Speek Free ??" Free Software available on Net
Speex ??" Free Protocol available on Net

Should work on all platforms through browser
