VB - how to add new info w/o re-compiling??

Here's the problem:

I've got an executable file that I need to send

to multiple clients. To operate properly, that executable relies on different data for each client.

I used to have the information hardcoded into the VB code, so I would re-compile for each individual client.

Then, I realized I could point to variables in a .ini

file and let the end user edit their own .ini file.

Great solution? No! Here's why:

Because my clients post this executable on a web server and THEIR clients are supposed to be able to use it via the web.

But they always get an error because the executable points to an .ini file that, even though it's in the same directory, is now a temp file.

So what I need is a solution to the problem: how do I

give ONE unchanging .exe file (or set of files) to EVERY client, and do it in such a way that they can make the necessary changes themselves? (These are newbies without a lot of experience - and certainly not VB6!) And it must be able to run from a webserver.

Any ideas?
