We're a not for profit / social enterprise with the vision of endling homelessness in Inner Sydney through an interactive website whereby the public can create profiles of the homeless, sponsor the homeless for specific needs (water, shelter, education, medical treatment) and interact with other like minded philanthropists to organise fund raising events and new charitable projects.
We need a coder who can put the pieces of the puzzle together by combining the powers of:
- Joomla Ethos template: [url removed, login to view]; and
Ideally, you will have some Joomla experience and can show examples of interactive websites that you have built before.
The website will be broken up into the following layers:
- Interactive Profiles of the homeless (with donation features for specific causes)
- JomSocial based social networking website whereby philanthropists can connect with each other, organise fund raising events, connect
- Joomla Back end whereby we can review profiles, content, discussions, add new videos, make changes etc.
Homepage (will retain most of the existing Ethos template headings) but main uses
a. Explains the organisation and what it stands for
b. Update visitors of recent news
c. Search through the profiles of the homeless that needs help. Can browse by video, profile, story, need, and / or ambition
d. Highlight specific profiles
e. Profile success stories and testimonials
Other links from the homepage
a. Recruit volunteers
b. Recruit new sponsors
c. Media and PR page
d. Sign up page (with facebook, twitter or other logins in addition to new profiles)
e. Add new profiles of homeless
f. Connect to the Social Networking Community (links through facebook, twitter, etc.)
Interactive Profile of the Homeless
Interactive website whereby the public can create Profile on behalf of the homeless. The Profile page can also accept donations for specific causes, and also shows the donations made to date. From this perspective, it will need some form of easy to use online merchant product (Rapid SSL?) that is imbedded into the website rather than taking you externally like PayPal would.
Top half of the page: Features for each individual profile may include the following:
- Ability to post video blogs
- Ability to post personal stories
- Ability to post personal ambitions
- Health issues
- Google map to show location of where the homeless may be begging from during
- Plea to the public (commentary from the public)
Below the short summary will be an interactive dashboard where web users can choose to donate towards a certain need, e.g Donate x$ for:
a. Food [Select from drop down e.g. "food"] for [type in: "10",select from drop down "days, months, years") (and on the right it shows that the person may already have food for 30 days)
e. Medical treatment
a. Much like facebook (i.e. the JomSocial template)
b. Once logged in, users don't get a news feed but a rolling discussion (like twitter) on Philanthropic topics
c. Ability to post videos, links to articles, etc. much like facebook (JomSocail)
d. In addition to a personal profile of the visitor, each profile also links to the profile of the homeless that the person may have nominated to the website
That's the vision of the website. I imagine that the coder will have more specific questions, which I'm happy to answer at your convenience.
Thanks for your help.
