People who do not get sufficient airflow through their nostrils use nose brace to breathe comfortably through their nose. Nose brace has been in the commercial use since January of 1989. In 1999 [url removed, login to view] went online as a static website to provide online info about nose brace. In 2003, a secure (https) order form was added to the site to allow online ordering by prospective customers. Also Google adword marketing was implemented. Many good lessons were learned in these years, including the importance of ease of use of the website and ease of ordering process. In 2009, it was decided that the one order page was not efficient and even it may have been detrimental to the ordering process. It was replaced with two step ordering. Once part online, and one part through email. This is quite inefficient as well.
Having given the above introduction this is what I need to be done:
- Complete redesign of the website with prospective customer in mind. It needs to be simple, easy to navigate, easy to interact, definitely encouraging to order by proper graphic design, placement of contents, and particularly easy to order. It is important to re-emphasize that the designer should keep marketing and ordering (sales) related issues in mind when redesigning the site.
- The new website should have proper landing pages for Google adwords.
- Social network websites should be in the mind of the designer and the necessary hooks be implemented.
- The first time ordering process for the prospective customers who have not ordered in the past should be intuitive, encouraging, and easy for the prospective customer to order. Also it should make the handling (informing, processing, storing, tracking, documenting, analyzing) of orders easy.
- A photo loading page should be part of the ordering process. Often, for manufacturing of a nose brace, it is helpful to have a digital photo of the inside of the nostril of prospective customer.
- Payment page should be designed to be handled by an auto charge credit card processor and/or a payment processing company such as 2cow, Paypal, etc.
- All data related to marketing, sales, orders, etc., should be stored in a mysql db, in appropriate tables, for easy retrieval and processing.
- Preferably an order status page, however minimal should be designed.
- A re-ordering page, for replacement, and/or spare orders should be designed with many of the similar features of the first time orders.
- Security of the data gathered, and privacy of the customers are absolutely essential.
- A forum for the existing customers to exchange ideas may be helpful. It should be planned.
