In my spare time, I run a very simple holiday booking website on behalf of owners of a selection of properties on a single resort. A variety of accommodation is available.
I built the current website over 6 years ago using Frontpage (yes, I know...). I still update it using Frontpage. But time took its toll. The CSS did not display properly in modern browsers like Firefox, the design and navigation is poor (I'm not a designer) and there are some functionality issues beyond my limited capabilities.
I did list this project before, and had a great new design created. But it was in Joomla. Which I cannot get along with at all. And have not the time to learn.
So in the end, I had to admit defeat, and redo the site myself quickly without CSS. It ain't pretty, but at least I can work it. So now I am reposting the job, with these strict instructions. I MUST be able to edit/update the finished site in Frontpage. So it needs to be built in old school HTML.
No "I can build you a nice site in Joomla". No "Wordpress is cool - you'll love it". Your bid will not be considered, so why waste your time? Sorry, but there you are.
Current site structure is a homepage, an availability/booking page which has a calendar chart showing all available weeks, then hyperlinks to individual property pages. Links are added/deleted manually as bookings come in. All property pages run off the same template. Booking is carried out by clicking a send email button from the individual property page. These are responded to manually. Tracking is via Google analytics.
I would like someone (you!) to refresh the design, fix the navigation and CSS issues, and ideally sort out the booking process so that instead of bringing up the email client, it creates a simple booking form for the booker to complete. When they click send, this will then autorespond with a bounce back email confirming their booking in principle. Ideally it will also somehow show the availability status as altered - for example, moves from Available; to Request Availability;. The idea being that as far as the booker is concerned, their holiday accommodation is all sorted (even though I still have to process the actual booking manually behind the scenes).
I still need the ability to update/manage the site myself (using Frontpage - sorry!) and set up new property pages using your template. But I may also want you to do additional work on the site in future.
So how about it? In effect, right now I need you to design me 4 to 6 page templates based on the current content, sort out the existing messy code and perform some relatively simple email/form creation tricks. Easy - for someone like you...
Yes, I want it fairly cheap. But I also want it reasonably good too. So with your bid, please include at least 2 examples of simple websites you have designed to let me get an idea of your capabilities.
Job is ready to start today, however I'm in no particular hurry - some idea of your expected timescales would be useful.
Look forward to receiving your winning bid!
