Visually the front end for the customer needs to be very simple but elegant. Ecommerce packages that limit allow personalisation of the site from a graphic/visual perspective is to be avoided.
Main pages of the front end will be
b) Latest releases (Some sort of CMS functionality will be required for this to simplify updates)

e) Search facility (based on any of 8 of the 14 data fields)
The shop needs to be able to cater for 15,000 unique books eventually. Initial count will be approx 2,000 and currently the existing details are held in a CSV file for which an import facility needs to be provided. Each book will have 14 data fields that apply to it, at least 8 of which need to be searchable by the user.
Payment methods will be PayPal or Credit card (via a French bank). Ecommerce system needs to handle all normal functions i.e. taking the order, preparing shipping documents and invoices. Purchasing will be done manually.
Your proposition should state the technology to be used for the ecommerce facility (this needs to be Open-Source or low-cost), you should also give details of similar projects you have handled.
Website/Eshop should also be able to maintain a customer newsletter (in 2 languages).
