IMPORTANT: To apply for this project, you must send a detailed price quote to me by May 9th, at 10pm EST. Quotes should include price per each section, as well as how many weeks each section you think will take. You also must provide a portfolio of links of previous works that are comparable. English and Spanish speaking a plus, but not required. The project is a database-driven website that would be like a cross between Craigslist, The Yellow Pages, [url removed, login to view], and Zatgat.com. The site will also need to be multilingual. I will be orchestrating the design, and directing the project. This is primarily a coding project; I will be providing look and feel in the form of detailed Photoshop or Illustrator mockups (including rollovers, ads, etc.) which I'll expect you to translate into pages. You should have a good understanding of CSS and either ASP or PHP (It doesn't matter which). The main component of the site is a directory of services. Businesses sign up for a listing by filling out a form and paying for the listing through Google Checkout. The user should be able to sort & search for the businesses based on the categories in the form. Examples of tags to sort by would be Type of Business, Primary Language, State, City, Rating, Comments, etc. There should be multiple levels that the business can sign up for (just like the yellow pages). Basic: just their info Intermediate: Their info with a picture, and perhaps an ad (more details later). Pro: We give them multiple pictures, and a customizable (though basic) web page. They should be able to pick from a couple different themes, and enter in information by filling out a form (similar to how you set up a profile on websites like [url removed, login to view]). When comments are posted, the business owner should be able to log in, just like a user does, and officially respond to comments (but not delete them). continued below-----
Users will be able to log into the site, and create a profile that would include an Avatar, their Zip code, and other misc. information (similar to a phpBB forum profile: [url removed, login to view]). User will be able to post comments on businesses, rate them with a star system (like Amazon does), post Classified Ads (just like Craigslist works), and participate in a forum. Community Calendar. There should be a calendar integrated into the site, which users and businesses can add events to. Depending on the users "range" (10 miles, 25 miles, 50 miles), different events would show up (all events would have to have a zip code to make this work). For the classifieds section, I'd like there to be several levels. Craigslist level would be free, but they'd have the option to pay for different features (making their listing bold, adding pictures, etc) similar to the way an Ebay posting works. For the forum section, there would be multiple categories (news, general discussion, sports, politics, etc). phpBB is a good example to follow with this, and may even be used, IF it can be integrated with the rest of the site. The user should NOT have to log in several time to access various parts. Email. This one is optional, I'm not sure how complicated this is. If it is possible for the user to open an email account with us, give me an estimate for that. This is not a necessity. There will be various general pages; like About, Contact, Feedback, Terms, etc. If you have any questions at all, please email me immediately. 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
