I have a working script already that reads an XML file and imports the data into a DB + downloads the necessary product files to my server and displays the products from DB on my website.
[url removed, login to view]
What I want to do is update the import data php file to place the information from the XML file into Virtuemart(Joomla shopping cart) tables. We'll need to update the products fields in Virtuemart to match those of a website template(the product), add some template variables to easily display the data on the Virtuemart Detailed Product Pages and Category pages along with some other features like pop image on rollovers. This system will be selling template monster Templates via their api.
The whole idea is to make [url removed, login to view] into a Joomla/Virtuemart Shopping cart instead of using that script it's built on.
All of the data from the xml are to be downloaded to the local server (script does that already). I did include the script in the docs area for you to test yourself along with the API documentation. If you look at the script you will see that it doesn't have all the fields from the xml api book; like types and is full site, etc.
We'll also have to do some hacking to the default VirtueMart Search fields to make it look like and work like the one in the script.
The script attached is the original un-edited version. The one on [url removed, login to view] has been modified over the past two years to include some other features.
I've attached the TM doc for the API to review. The script that I have has almost all of the DB fields and data from the API. It's a little outdated so needs some updates as some new product types have been added to the catalog. Go to the XML api section in the attached PDF.
I don't think it'll be a hard project at all. I'm very comfortable with Joomla/Virtuemart and can easily guide you on what needs to be done exactly.
I don't think it should be too challenging as all you're doing is working from the existing script and programming and importing it into Virtuemart.
I'd prefer to work with a freelancer that I could hire for a fixed 2 weeks or longer if need. Not necessary though.
More details will be provided if you can handle this project.
I need this done ASAP!!!
