Project Description

This is a simple re-coding of an existing webpage that no longer functions. It utilizes an old geolocation javascript and I need it updated to reflect HTML5 geolocation coding.

I also want the site to work offline. It currently doesn’t.

The page must function without a network connection / offline / airplane mode. The webpage must be cached for offline use and all the pertinent geolocation data must be stored in local storage.

The site is very simple. It will get the user’s geolocation. The user will press a button. The site will give a message based on the user’s location. When the user moves to another location and presses the button again, it will give another message. All this must happen offline --- this is where the complexity comes in.

The site must work on computer - Safari, Chrome and Firefox. And on an iPhone Safari and Android Chrome.

*** Very important note and sorry in advance.

I am not paying you to learn how to code. I have had two horrible experiences with freelancer where the “programmer” had a lot of excuses on why something wouldn’t work. Only later, I found out the code was very simple. They simple didn’t know what they were doing.

This project should take you less than 3 hours to complete. Maybe even under an hour. I’m figuring an hour at most to understand the current coding and to communicate with me. And another hour to rework the existing coding.

If you do a great job on this section of the site, there is more work in the future.

Thank you for your consideration of this project.
