Dual Language Website Build

Need help to program simple bi-lingual site through SquareSpace. The main page contains buttons for both English and French versions of the site. The issue we're facing is that on every sub-page, in the header all 'Main Navigation' (group of associated pages) is showing for both languages and we can't figure out how to make the French version not appear on the English pages and vice versa. The only templates that seem to easily work around this are the long scrolling variety - one can make each language just one page. The issue with that is they look much nicer for restaurants than for a dental practice. Working knowledge of SquareSpace or at least the coding they use is required. Upon confirmation will email the login details. No need to add text or graphics, just fix the functionality of the dual language navigation.
