WE DO NOT WANT OUR SITE DESIGNED USING OSCOMMERCE AND WE WILL NOT EMPLOY ANYONE WHO INTENDS TO USE THIS. THE REASON IS WE HAVE PAGE LAYOUTS OF HOW WE WANT THE SITE TO LOOK AND WE FEEL THESE CANNOT BE ACCOMPLISHED USING OSCOMMERCE.
What ever shopping cart you use must be able acheive exactly the look we are after.
Brief To Design E Commerce Website.
The site will be designed using PHP with a MySQL database.
The site is an online shop. The structure of the site is shown on the Excel Spreadsheet – site plan.
You will mainly be required to build the mechanics of the site, PHP coding and design of MySql database. I will work on the graphics and the look of the site. This will obviously require we work with each other to achieve both our goals.
On the home page there will be a link to Men’s, Ladies and Children’s clothes.
Men’s Home Page
This page will contain links to all the brands of men’s clothes they sell as well as a link to Jeans. If they click onto any of the links it will display a page with all the products in this category.
Ladies Home Page
This page will contain links to all the brands of ladies clothes they sell as well as a link to Jeans and Shoes. If they click onto any of the links it will display a page with all the products in this category.
Children’s Home Page
This page will contain links to all the brands of children’s clothes they sell as well as a link to Baby Gifts and Shoes. If they click onto any of the links it will display a page with all the products in this category.
Product List Page
The product list page will display a list of the products from the category that was selected in the Men’s Home Page, Ladies Home Page or Children’s Home Page.
So for example, if the customer was on the men’s home page and they selected Pepe it would display all the Men’s Pepe clothes. If they selected jeans it would display all the Men’s jeans regardless of make.
This product list would include a thumbnail picture, product name and price. When they click on these it would go to the next page, the Product Details Page.
This page should display them four products to a row.
Product Details Page
The product details page would display everything to do with this page including options such as size and colour. It would display a large picture say 400 x 400 pixels.
This page would also have an Add To Cart button on it. So they could choose to buy it. Also it would need a button to click to return to the previous page.
Shopping Cart Display Page
This page will display the content of the shopping cart and have a checkout button which will connect to an online credit card processing company, such as PROTX or SEC Pay. The details of the order will need to be stored in a database.
Thank You Page
This is the page that the customer will arrive at when they have finished giving their credit/debit card details to the online credit card processor.
This page should send an automated email to the customer stating:
Thank you (customer Name) for your order. We will endeavour to have this dispatched to you in the next 2 working days. Please check the order and details below and if it is incorrect please phone us immediately.
The page it’s self should also display the following information:

Customer Order Area
The customer order page would be an authorised only area with a login page. This would enable the staff at in the shop to log in and view their orders.
It would require a page where they could view a list of orders with the newest at the top.
Each entry in the list would require the following details:
Date of order
Weather of not the order had been dispatched
A link to see full details of the order
At the top of this page could be an order id look up feature. Where they could type in an order id and click search and then they could view the full details of this order.
The second section would be a order details page. This would display the order details when they click view order details in the order list or search for an order.
The details the page would need to display are:
Details of what the customer had ordered including the price
The total monetary value of the order
Weather the order had been marked dispatched or not
A check box to tick when they have dispatched the order ( this would display in the order list as well)
A link to click to print out order details
A link to print of an address label
The database would need to be populated from a database dump that came from there in shop electronic point of sale system they have in their shop.
They will have a way of getting a dump of the database. They would need some way of uploading this dump into the website when ever they want, probably by logging into the Customer Order section. This would then update the database.
This database holds all the information about the products including how many of each item is in stock. If an item is no longer in stock it would need to no longer be displayed on the site. If of course the item is in stock at a later date when they next upload the dump then it would need to appear in the site again
Also the electronic point of sale system is the way they enter new products, so in other words the only way the website database is populated is to upload the dump from the EPOS system.
This electronic point of sale system (EPOS) is called top 2 toe. I will be able to get you much more detailed information as you need it, including what format the dump will be in. I have included a file called stk00001 which is an example of all the columns the EPOS has in it.
All pages would need a small section which displayed the number of items in the shopping cart and a view cart and check out button.
I think this covers most things, but as within any project there are always changes here and there and things that needing adding and removing.
