We have a human health project in the areas of emotion psychology and autism that has been worked on for several years that is starting to enter critical end stages, and we need a new primary programmer.
The prototype has many configurations, and a significant part of your role will include rapid, iterative prototyping of new features.
You should not have to touch the Python server layer, though you will need to touch the PHP API layer.
We are not looking to implement a new framework at this time, so you should be comfortable implementing features in just the languages and frameworks above. You may be asked to do live bug fixes or implementation of feature requests while user studies are being performed.
It is preferred that you are familiar with the Grunt task runner.
It is important to note that this project and its scope has grown organically over the course of development, and code refactoring is not in the scope of this posting. You should be comfortable working with a somewhat messy codebase.
The base application layer that the current version is built on top of is Python 2.7/Jinja2 (ported from an old Google App Engine version). Currently rewriting the base layer is not in the project scope.
The application itself runs on AWS.
----Project Workflow / Toolchain----
The current build chain uses:
Yarn for developer / build dependencies (not kept in Git)
Bower for application dependencies (kept in Git)
At this stage, the prototype is only being tested in Google Chrome. It will be very helpful to you if you're comfortable working with the Chrome developer tools.
