I think the function to use would be: tickets-return_number. As far as I can see from testing other functions, the api gives you some access to the database. Aslong as this function does give you enough access all should be achievable.
I need a simple php script to connect to the api on my helpdesk that will allow a user via the api see how many tickets he has, how many are open and if possible to see if a open ticket has been replied to.
Open tickets: 5
Total tickets: 10
Has any open ticket been replied to by support: Yes
And thats it. I will do the rest to integrate it into another script once working.
