I have a wordpress project that because of plugins and child themes, the concatenated, compressed and minified CSS file is still 21K file with nearly 23,000 elements. This file takes 2 seconds to process the DOM and a further 2 seconds to render the page in a browser.
I would like someone to analyse and reduce the size of my CSS by removing unused elements, and in turn improve the DOM Processing and Page rendering time to under 1 second.
However, the look of the site must not be changed in any way. Moreover, the site is responsive and the CSS file has media queries in the CSS and other responsive elements, so the site has to look the same in the different browsers and screen sizes that I currently support.
An example of the CSS file is attached.
