We have an excel document that we use to keep track of ongoing orders. Our customer requires that we send a comma separated text file over to them on a daily basis so they can keep up to date on the status of the orders as well. There are some columns in the excel file that we maintain that we would not want our customer to see. For a time we were maintaining two separate excel documents but that resulted in doubling the amount of work that we do.
We would like to take our existing excel file and be able to “convert it” to the format the customer needs, rearranging and stripping some columns. When it is “converted” some of the columns will need to be moved around and reformatted. The date needs to be switched from mm/dd/yyyy to yyymmdd for example. We want to keep the existing excel file intact but then create a new file as a comma separated .txt file and have a name of pl<mmmddyyy>.txt.
Refer to fig1 for a sample of what our excel file looks like that we maintain.
Refer to fig2 for the requirements for the output.
