I am a social worker in a medical clinic that serves many seniors. Many of them are looking at losing their homes when their spouse dies because the person's Social Security income stops and the surviving spouse cannot afford to keep the home alone. Other seniors do not have relatives to help and do not receive enough money to pay rent for an apartment. I want to develop an app that can safely link people who may be willing to rent a room to another senior, thereby creating a win for both. The app would initially be specific to my local geographic area with the intention to branch out, ideally all over the country. There would need to be some way for people to have background checks in place to be allowed to participate. There will need to be a series of compatibility questions in an effort to arrange viable, positive connections. The housing is there, just no way to link the individuals. Some counties have created home sharing programs but there may be too many policies to work around for them to morph quickly with what is needed. Not sure if borrowing an Air BnB model is possible though it would require more vetting of individuals since the people using it may be vulnerable. This is first time posting and am learning. Will likely need to get a sense of what the cost may be and then look into securing funding to get started. Thanks for your interest! This is very needed and will help people.
