Dear developers,
I currently manage a (joomla) site at which my friend would like to have an area where visitors can ask a question and have it answered, without having to signup.
Currently the script i have chosen called FAQTASTIC (GPL) from scripts[dot]inexistent[dot]org works great but we need a feature added to it.
currently the system works as follows:
1. user visits page, which is displayed in a wrapper in the joomla website, and asks a question by filling in the fields *name*, *email* and *question*, hits the "ask" (submit) button.
2. admin is sent an email that says a new question has been submitted, instructing to visit the admin area and answer it, after which, if it is set to "publish" on the backend, it is displayed publically below the question.
Now, the extra feature i require is as follows;
- when from the admin area the question(s) is/are answered, set to "publish" and the submit button on the page clicked, i would like an email to be sent to the person who asked the question, telling them "thank you for your recent question. It has now been answered and can be viewed at (link)".
so at present, the visitor is asked for their email address, and the only use i can see is that it is visible in the admin area, along with IP, etc.
Aside from this the only emailing that actually happens is the notification to admin to say a new question has been posted.
What i need is for an email to be sent to the person who asked the question, once it has been answered.
i'm currently learning php and had a go at adding the functionality to the script myself but had no luck.
the script uses a database, so i guess its just a case of the mail() function being added in and pulling the "to" address from the database *if* the action dropdown was set to "publish".
This is a budget project and is not a very difficult one, i just don't feel ready, so i aquire the support of you geniuses to assist me and help me learn!
Would like to have this complete in the next day or two, but should only really take a short time?!
Thank you for your time and interest.
script can be found at: scripts[dot]inexistent[dot]org - called FAQTASTIC.
Demo doesn't currently work, but download does.
I have modified the script slightly to customise, so if necessary i can provide access to my copy on server along with FTP accesss.
Any additional info required, or questions, please do not hesitate to ask!
Thanks again!
Anthony.
