Super Quick PHP Task (preg_replace and file_put_contents to edit a JSON file) ASAP

Hi. I'm trying to make 2 quick edit files that edit values in a small JSON manifest file. Basically, I want to edit the Name and the URL. But, I can't get either one working correctly. See below. (Note: once I get these working, I can just put them into certain pages in my framework that'll clean the inputs, etc. and only let an Admin submit them).
1. Simple replace using preg_replace. So, we replace the Name and the URL with POST values from this form: [login to view URL]
$content = preg_replace('/YourBrand/', $name, $content);
$content = preg_replace('[login to view URL]', $url, $content);
2. Create a string or array with the POST variables for Name and URL
$lang = "en-US";
$display = "standalone";
$src = "./static/images/[login to view URL]";
$newdata[] = array(
'name' => $name,
'short_name' => $name,
'lang' => $lang,
'start_url' => $url,
'display' => $display,
'icons' => array([
'src' => $src
])
);
