I would like to allow my website members to click a button to send a tweet to their Twitter account from my website, using the Twitter API.
Flow of events:
User is logged in as a member of my website.
User has already chosen a Youtube video URL. For example, [url removed, login to view]
Script wraps the Youtube URL in a [url removed, login to view] wrapper. (see: [url removed, login to view] )
User sees a box where they can type their tweet content. The [url removed, login to view] link to the video is automatically added to the end of their text input, to create the full tweet. Example: the user types "Hey, check out this video ", and we automatically add the video link: [url removed, login to view] or whatever the link is to the video after it has been transformed into a [url removed, login to view] link
Script limits the tweet content to the right number of characters, including the link. (see: [url removed, login to view] )
An example of a tweet they want to send is: Hey, check out this video [url removed, login to view]
User clicks a button to publish the tweet to Twitter.
Twitter shows authentication process, which uses OAuth. The user has to sign in the FIRST TIME they use this feature on my website. This will generate an OAuth access token. Save the OAuth access token to my database, so that the SECOND TIME and all future times when the user sends a tweet they do not have to authenticate. Instead we use the access token to send the tweet on their behalf. (see: [url removed, login to view] )
If user authenticates successfully (or if we have an access token already), send the tweet so it appears in their Twitter feed.
Twitter sends back a confirmation.
Save the confirmation to my database.
Display a success message to the user.
