I'm a medical doctor starting a new telemedicine-based practice. I'd like to create a mobile app and website to be used by patients to sign-in and schedule a visit in real-time with an available medical provider. It can be thought of as an "Uber for Doctors".
The App/Web site would determine the patient's location and whether there are any doctors in their area who are logged in to the system and flagged as "available" to see patients. If a match is made between a patient and an available provider, then the patient's personal information will be obtained, including their insurance information. The insurance information will then be checked against a database (third party software already exists for this purpose) to determine the estimated co-pay that they will be responsible for paying for their visit. If the patient is not insured, they will pay a standard fee. Credit card payment information will then be obtained and a payment transaction will occur.
After payment, the patient will have an account created in the system using their personal information and that same personal information will be exported into an already existing electronic medical record (EMR) application. The appointment will then be scheduled (entered) into the same electronic medical record software and the process will complete.
An almost identical App and Website to what I'm hoping to create was made by another company at http://www.heal.com. To get a general understanding of what I'm hoping to do, please take a look at their website. I obviously do not wish to infringe upon their design or intellectual property, and my practice will have important differences, however the software will have to perform a similar function.
I hope the website and app to be completed within 4-5 weeks.
