This is a novel set in the late sixties and early seventies in Queens, New York. The protagonist, Jack Bernstein, is a young man struggling to break into the cutthroat world of rock and roll management. He's scraping the bottom of the barrel in Queens, hoping to discover a winner. When he does, sharks from Manhattan steal them. Down on his luck and in debt to a loan shark, Jack agrees to manage the career of a mobster's nephew as a last-ditch attempt to make it. He puts together a band with some African-American musicians and against the odds they click with Max. While the novel is about rock and roll, it features the sixties as almost a character: the weed and acid, the racial and ethnic tensions, major music venues in NYC in that era, and life in a world before cell phones, GPS and the internet. You can learn more about me and my writing on my blog, [login to view URL] I've written three books in a series, all on amazon Kindle; the series page is [login to view URL] I'm also on Linked In. I believe the market for the book are people interested in rock history or this era and people interested in this slice of NYC. I'm thinking the idea would be to get coverage or interviews on local radio stations, podcasts, college stations, historical societies, I don't believe just sending out press releases does much good. I've been unable to increase my e mail list, which I'd like to do but only with a targeted audience, not just people taking a chance on a free kindle. I would prefer to do publicity before the book is released but could have it non Amazon preorder. I would like to get some legitimate reviews before release if possible.
