Job Description:
Develop an open source program or web app that does the following:
Inputs
1. Asks user for location in North America
2. Asks user for acceptable radius in km
Outputs
3. Outputs list of all Catholic universities and colleges in that radius
4. For each school on the list provide the following details (as a webpage output or csv):
a. url for the school
b. total enrollment
c. city the school is located in
d. population of that city
e. crime statistics for that city
Possible sources of data:
Catholic Schools in US ([login to view URL] ) and Canada ([login to view URL]:Catholic_universities_and_colleges_in_Canada)
From each school link within Wikipedia you can grab the url of the school, the total enrollment (labeled 'students'), the city.
Again use Wikipedia to get the city population.
Finally, for the crime stats get a crime index for the city at [login to view URL]
