Mechanical/Structural Engineering Design — Custom Wood-Burning Hearth for Barn (Missouri PE License preferred) Project description: I am building a custom freestanding open-hearth wood-burning fireplace inside a new 60’ × 80’ post-frame agricultural building in Jefferson County, Missouri. I need an engineer to review, refine, and complete the integrated system design and potentially produce stamped construction drawings. About the project: The hearth is an open design in the building. Major components: • 6’ × 4’ firebrick fire pit with steel grate at 36” above finished existing concrete floor • Freestanding truncated-pyramid steel hood (10-gauge mild steel) approximately 7’ × 5’ at the bottom skirt, 30” round collar at the top, 60-72” tall • Hood supported by four steel columns anchored to the concrete slab — not attached to the building structure • Class A insulated chimney venting vertically through the barn roof (eave height 16’, ridge approximately 20’) • 10’ × 8’ hearth pad with stone or brick veneer
